The YPD under the leadership of the Women's Missionary Society provides meaningful youth training programs and opportunities for leadership experience in all areas of church life. By providing training in Evangelism, Christian Social Relations, and Education programs the YPD is designed to connect youth more fully to the mission of the church and increase knowledge of the African Methodist Episcopal Church history and the scriptures.

The Lay Organization

The main objectives are stated in brief as follows: 1) To create a love and appreciation of the History and Principles of African Methodism. 2) Keep the memory of Richard Allen alive. 3) Respect Constituted Authority. 4) Stimulate and Educate the Laity in the Total Program of the Church. 5) Study the Discipline and learn the laws of the Church. 6) Encourage Financial Support of the Church’s Program. 7) Teach and Practice Stewardship and work with the Youth to teach them Methodism. 8) These objectives can best be met when one works to understand the program of the church and relate the church to the world around us. Become involved in Social Action such that the church is then our Community – our Job – Our School, and everywhere that many assemble he carries the church with him.

Department of Christian Education

Each local congregation shall be so organized as to discharge its responsibility for the religious development of its entire constituency, in accordance with the policies of the Department of Christian Education, with the concurrence of the pastor. It shall make adequate provision for meeting the growing needs of religious life through worship, fellowship, study, and social action; evangelistic, missionary and recreational activity.

Sons of Allen

The purpose of the Sons of Allen of the African Methodist Episcopal Church shall be: a) to lead men to an acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. b) to organize men into units and empower them to meet men’s needs in such areas as Evangelism and Stewardship. c) to teach the men of our denomination the history, doctrine and polity of our denomination with focus on the life, mission, and ministry of our ancestral father, Richard Allen. d) to teach the men to witness their faith in daily living, such as in the workplace, the community, and the home. e) to encourage men to engage in outreach and service as a part of Christian servanthood. f) to seek resources and support of men as husbands and fathers. g) to empower men to serve as role models to young men and develop youth ministries such as scouting ministries, in local units. h) to encourage men to share in ecumenical relations.

Church School
